Meet Percy!

In the modern sense of the words, he is like my animal familiar! Although the past definition of an animal familiar would have been a spirit or demon inhabiting the body of animal.. today it is more to do with being psychically connected to an animal who seems to be attuned to your Spirit work. Sometimes people over-use the term. It depends on how deep the connection and what the purpose of the two of you being in life together is. Percy is like my living helper spirit. Whenever I am doing any sort of Psychic work at all, he is right there by my side... sometimes trying to climb on top of me or my work. He does little actions to let me know that there is an emphasis to what I am reading. Like "hey, I don't know if you noticed but this is very important". Sometimes it can be obnoxious because he can sometimes interfere at times that are not practical. He also gets annoyed if I ever lock him out of the room when doing anything magical or spiritual. Reiki is a challenge because instead of helping, he tends to want to sponge up all the energy. Especially when I am doing my self reiki in the morning. It isn't out of the ordinary for him to climb onto my chest or in my lap while I am doing it.

We have a very close connection. Finding him was one of those things where he chose me first. We went into the animal shelter looking for a cat to be a companion and hopefully help our other cat who had a lot of issues. She was a rescue from an animal hoard situation. I was wandering around and there was Percy with his big green eyes, staring at me through the window and waving his little paw at me. I entered the room and he immediately climbed in my lap. My family also fell in love with him and we proceeded with the paper work. They warned us that he had been returned to the shelter twice for being too vocal and for chewing cords. It turns out he does the meowing because he wants to be wherever people are. He will not accept being locked out... so he sleeps in our bed every night, sometimes on top of us and he is happy and we are accepting. The vocalization is no problem! As for the cords, we found Percy to be quite the little bird hunter and as long as he gets time outside, he is completely content. He would never be a good apartment or strictly house cat. He needs that time.

For awhile he would bring me dead birds and grasshoppers with their legs removed. I know he was trying to care for me. We had a conversation where I asked him to keep them outside on the porch at least. He told another animal communicator that he was really trying not to hunt because he knew I didn't like it. I had to let him know that I LOVE that he is a hunter and am proud of exactly who he is but I don't eat birds. He still brings me bugs but has stopped bringing the birds. I still see him out watching and chasing them. I wonder if I might find a little bird graveyard one of these days.

He also stays within a certain perimeter of our yard and it makes me so happy since we lost one of our cats who we also adored too soon when she became more and more adventurous and was struck by a car. I'm happy that he respects and honors those raw emotions we still feel. I have a particular call for him if I don't know where he went where I roll my R's "PeeeeeRRRRRRRCY" I call... and he always comes, sometimes quicker or slower, without fail.
He is my buddy. We communicate and honor each other, we work together, he calms me when my energy is out of whack and we are often together.
